It is a great pleasure to welcome best-selling author Margalit Fox to read from her new book “The Talented Mrs. Mandelbaum” on Wednesday, July 17th.

The book is a true-crime tale of an immigrant’s rise in Gilded Age New York. How did a Jewish woman become a powerful crime boss?  Here is a short video to introduce the story:

Margalit Fox had a distinguished writing career in the famed New York Times’s Obituary Department. Her recently-published remembrance of Faith Ringgold (linked below) shows her eye for details that informed the larger narraives of a person’s life.
