** Come Celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Bruce’s Garden! **
June 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

On the Summer Solstice – Friday, June 20th at 7pm – Bruce’s Garden will host a fundraising party to celebrate the 55th anniversary of our beloved community garden. Reserve your spot now!
We’ll also recognize local leaders and organizations that mirror the spirit of the garden’s founding family – the J.A., Gerri, and Bruce Reynolds, whose collective effort transformed an empty lot into a thriving garden, back in 1970.
As many of you know, Bruce Reynolds was working for the Port Authority when he lost his life aiding victims of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. The Parks Department recognized Bruce’s selfless bravery and service by naming the garden in his honor.
Join us on June 20th for an al fresco dinner featuring local cuisine, music by Clérida Eltimé, a Grammy-nominated cellist — and a special Sound Bath by Licia of Aveani Sacred Wellness — not to mention the good company of friends and neighbors.
AND there will be a special raffle of honey from Bruce’s Garden bees, as well as other local treats!
Space is limited, so please reserve your spot now!
In the spirit of Bruce’s Garden, The Bruce Garden Solstice Fundraiser will honor:
-
Carole Mulligan, 84, a retired public school teacher who left the segregated south of her youth to come to New York and devote her life to education, community service, and breaking down racial barriers.
-
Ladies Lemonade, a fledgling group dedicated to empowering the women of Upper Manhattan through regular meetings, networking, and other resources.
-
Uptown Youth Collective, a group of young people and youth service providers who work together to empower youth from Washington Heights and Inwood.
Please share this announcement with friends, and we’ll see you soon!
