Mid-Month Summer Reading Series • Jun 16 @6:30pm
Geoff Wisner, a noted Thoreau scholar, will present two writers who closely observed hawks and wrote about them beautifully: Henry David Thoreau wrote on the birds in his journals over several years; and Marie Winn’s Red-Tails in Love, about Pale Male, New York’s favorite hawk.
Also as a special pleasure, NYCAudubon has given permission for those attending to view Bruce Yolton’s film A Year with Pale Male prior to the reading. Through amazing photography, the film follows the birds for a year after Marie Winn’s book and shows newer hawk nests. Spoiler alert: look for Inwood Hill Park.

Please come. It will be a beautiful outdoor night in our community’s garden.
We are grateful to Humanities New York for their generous support and to the Thoreau Society and NYC Audubon for their kind assistance.
